Framing and Hanging Art

Here are some tips on hanging watercolor art in your home to enhance your decor and create an inviting atmosphere.
The painting above was recently acquired by a friend who is a therapist. They selected a beautiful complementing frame. I feel like this combination provides peace and tranquility to a clinical environment that can often be stressful.
Here are some things to consider:
1. Choose the Right Location: Select walls that receive adequate light without direct sunlight, which can fade colors over time. Living rooms, hallways, and bedrooms often provide ideal spots.
2. Consider the Height: Hang artwork at eye level for best viewing, usually around 57-60 inches from the floor. If it's a gallery wall, consider varying heights for visual interest.
3. Frame Appropriately: most of my works come with white or black mats so you will need a frame. Frames are a very personal choice to match your tastes, your decor and of course the painting. On my website the works are framed usually in basic black to give you an idea what the painting will look like. A simple, elegant frame often works well with watercolor pieces to let the art shine.
4. Group at Eye Level: If displaying multiple pieces, arrange them in a grid or salon style. Use similar frames or mats for a cohesive look.
5. Mix with Other Art Forms: Combine watercolors with other art mediums, like photographs or prints, to create a dynamic display.
6. Use Command Strips for Easy Adjustment: If you're unsure about placement, use removable wall strips for lighter watercolor pieces, allowing for adjustments without damaging walls.
7. Refresh Regularly: Consider rotating your artwork seasonally to keep your space feeling fresh and engaging.
By following these tips, you can effectively showcase your watercolor art and elevate the overall aesthetic of your home.
